Be the Role Model Your Child's School Needs

Join Watch D.O.G.S. of Northeast Elementary and make a lasting impact on every student's education while creating a safer, more supportive school environment.

Our Goal? Improve outcomes for every student!

Since 1998, Watch D.O.G.S. has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as one of the nation's most effective school engagement programs.
  • Positive Role Models
By volunteering just one day at your child's school, you provide positive male role models for all students, showing them that education matters.
  • Improved Safety
Serve as extra "eyes and ears" to support principals and teachers while creating a greater sense of campus safety for everyone.
  • Reduced Bullying
Your presence helps reduce bullying incidents and creates a more supportive, inclusive environment for all students to thrive.
  • Fathers gain greater awareness of student's challenges
Fathers learn about the increasingly complex challenges and decisions today’s youth are facing. As a result, they can learn to relate better to their student and hopefully connect with them.

Be the change, register as a volunteer!

WatchDOGS are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S.® school. During the day, WatchDOGS may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well. Many school principals have reported that the mere presence of a WatchDOG dramatically reduces reports of bullying. On the day of their participation, WatchDOGS are given a brief review of their involvement and they wear an official WATCH D.O.G.S. t-shirt with a disposable ‘Dog Tag’ identifying them as WatchDOGS.

The call is out! Northeast Elementary is looking for help with the following:

  • Morning Greeters
Welcome students with high-fives and encouraging words, setting a positive tone for their entire school day.
  • Carpool line and Crosswalk Supervisors
Direct traffic flow and assist students crossing streets safely, ensuring smooth arrival and dismissal procedures.
  • Lunchroom and Recess Supervisors
Monitor student behavior during meals and outdoor play, promoting positive social interactions and conflict resolution.
  • Classroom Helpers
Support teachers by working one-on-one with students, helping with reading, math, or special projects that need extra attention.
  • Mentorship
Build meaningful relationships with students through academic tutoring, life skills guidance, and sharing real-world experiences that connect to their learning.
  • School Events
Lead exciting activities at field days, assist with assemblies, and help create memorable experiences that strengthen school community spirit.

I think that this program has helped dads feel that they are not only welcome at school but that they are needed at school.

Encino Park Elementary

San Antonio, TX

I think that dads want to get involved and they are looking for an avenue to do it and they need the (WATCH D.O.G.S.) structure and the format… dads need to know what’s going to happen next.

Bellows Spring Elementary

Ellicott City, MD

It’s the best way for dads to deliver the message: Your education is important enough for me to take the time from work to help.

Fern Elementary School

Round Rock, TX

As we work to drive down drop-out rates and increase graduation and college completion rates, fathers have an important role to play. Children are always watching. Engaged fathers can strengthen our schools, mentor and tutor students and demonstrate through their actions how much they value their children’s education.

I think there is a great need to get dads back into the educational process. I can’t be everywhere. I have the entire district to cover. I’ve got five buildings to take care of. Having that (WATCH D.O.G.S.) presence, just having some extra eyes and ears… it might deter someone from taking any type of action.

SRO for Logan-Rogersville Upper Elementary and Primary Schools

Rogersville, MO

The positive male role models that participate in the daily accomplishments of the students will be remembered by the students… Our volunteer hours have increased, but more importantly, the excitement on the faces of our students when they see a DOG come into their classroom or enter the cafeteria is priceless! At CLE the WATCH D.O.G.S. program involves parents, students, and teachers, and is treasured by all! We love WATCH D.O.G.S.!!!!

When you get a few dads together and they see the positive impact this program provides, the energy is addicting and suddenly you have more dads than you have days for them to have the opportunity to be a Big Dog!
